Tanuj Gulati, Senior Energy Engineer

Tanuj is a driving force at work and in his free time. Recognized as an AEE “Energy Innovator of the Year” and one of Midwest Energy News magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2016, Tanuj drives businesses to make cost-conscious, energy saving choices. He also drives cattle on horseback near Rocky Mountain National Park—again herding movement in a positive direction.

Tanuj has more than 15 years of experience in the energy efficiency field. He is passionate about helping businesses operate more efficiently and quick to offer tangible solutions that save energy and lower costs. Many customers have Tanuj on speed dial and say he is their first call whenever they consider energy-efficiency upgrades, building improvements, or new construction.

As Energy Insight’s Senior Energy Engineer, Tanuj is a pro when it comes to lighting redesign, HVAC, compressed air systems, refrigeration systems, controls, process improvements in industrial systems, and more. He is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Lighting Energy Professional, and an accredited Green Globe Auditor. He leads energy teams for multiple large customers and is an enthusiastic, engaging, and entertaining presenter for industry conferences, seminars and workshops.

Communicating effectively is important to Tanuj. He moved to the United States from his native India in the early 2000s and earned a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Tanuj enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering with Best Prep Classroom Plus to educate high school students about careers in energy efficiency, photography, cattle driving, and exploring national parks on horseback and his motorcycle.
