Heating systems and production equipment with damaged or dirty steam traps can waste energy, cost money and even impact quality. Thermal imaging and ultrasonic testing can help identify whether these problems are occurring in your facility.
Steam traps are automatic valves where steam is condensed into water for its return trip back to the boiler—ideally without the loss of any steam. Like any mechanical devices, steam traps sometimes need maintenance. Energy Insight, Inc., provides Certified Level 1 Thermography as well as ultrasound services to detect plugged or leaking steam traps. Sophisticated infrared imaging allows us to measure and compare pipe temperatures upstream and downstream from the traps and determine whether they are working properly. The result is improved energy efficiency and lower costs because the dollars you spend converting water into steam are put to work, not lost into the atmosphere.
