Samantha Hoffman, Associate Energy Engineer

Sam dives right into her work. This former Division I college swimmer is now immersed in site surveys and data analysis as an associate energy engineer, using her technical skills to help businesses operate more energy efficiently.

Sam graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and minors in mathematics and sustainable energy systems. She joined Energy Insight as an intern in spring 2018 and quickly moved into a full-time role as associate energy engineer. She is determined to apply her mechanical engineering skills in ways that advance next-generation technology and sees opportunities to succeed in the energy-efficiency field.

Making a difference is important to Sam. She tutors kids in the evenings, teaches swim lessons on the weekends, and volunteers with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. She enjoys being outside golfing, biking, and relaxing at the lake with family, friends and her fiancé. Word has it, Sam also is a bit of a card shark. Want to see her competitive side? Just challenge her to a game of cribbage.
